Reasons to Buy the Canon Lens

I generally like to stick to matching brand names with brand names, and my research has shown that most people on the web agree that doing so with Canon lenses is worth it. Now what I am talking about is a company that manufactures user-friendly products! Canon the camera making company that now gives varied other products and services to the world such as printers, inks and fax machines and copiers!

Canon’s Roots

Canon’s roots were laid in 1933 with very few employees as a precision optical instruments lab. The Laboratory was founded in 1933 in a third-floor apartment of the Takekawaya Building in Roppongi, Azabu Ward, Tokyo. Its objective was to produce high-grade cameras.

A young man named Goro Yoshida, a passionate camera-lover; and his brother-in-law, Saburo Uchida, set up the Laboratory jointly. Their aim was to make cameras that could compete with the German models that were considered the most advanced of the day.

They started by analyzing existing cameras, which were difficult to obtain. Systematically, they studied each camera’s internal workings, examined mechanisms, drew up design diagrams and procured parts. Takeshi Mitarai, a close friend of Uchida provided the funds required for the research. Mitarai later became president of the company and built its foundation.

It then went on to become a renowned camera making company. When it grew and decided to diversify its business plans it had to shed its image of a company that manufactured only cameras, therefore the top brass of the company decided to take on the name Canon Inc in 1969. The year1969 was also the year that canon forayed into business machines and eventually into the printing business.

Product Chronology

To go through a brief chronology of Canon’s printing and copying history – Canon successfully developed the laser beam printer in 1975. In 1982, the PC-10 and PC-20, the world’s first personal copying machines with replaceable cartridges, were introduced. Canon, in collaboration with IBM Japan, Ltd., developed the world’s first notebook PC with an installed printer in 1993.

Bubble Jet Discovery

One of canon’s most interesting discoveries in the field of printing technology was the bubble jet printing technology. Researchers while working on the inkjet printing technology hit upon the discovery when a hot solder gun accidentally touched the tip of an ink-filled needle due to which ink sprayed out! Therefore, the researchers concluded that heat instead of pressure could be used to eject the ink on the media.
The development of this technology gave the world it’s first bubblejet printer in 1981.

Laser Beam Printing

Another important technology in the field of printing by Canon was the development of laser beam printers (LBP). It started research on laser as a means of writing as early as 1962. However it was unable to develop a practical laser source and hence could not acquire the patents it had applied for due to which the research and development was suspended.

In the 1970s when lasers came into practical application fields Canon resumed its research on laser beam printers and developed the LBP’s of today combining their electro photographic technologies with laser technology.

The development of lasers imprinting also gave birth to a number of high-speed copy machines by Canon such as The NP-8500, the world’s first retention-type copying machine in 1978.

The NP-8500 SUPER, an ultrahigh speed-copying machine capable of producing 135 copies per minute 1981; and the PC-10 and PC-20, the world’s first personal copying machines with replaceable cartridges were introduced by Canon in 1982.

In 1984 Canon gave the world its LBP-8/CX, the smallest and lightest laser beam printer.

Today Canon develops technology that couples direct printing options from Cell phones equipped with a digital camera, hence integrating printing technology with photography! One such latest technology is the direct wireless printing from a camera! The printing is achieved using infrared and Bluetooth communication technology embedded in the cell phones or PCs. Being wireless no cables are required, and the image quality parallels that of printouts from PCs using memory cards.

One important feature Canon uses to achieve real true to life image quality on paper is:

Color reproduction: The color range of digital cameras (YCC) is much wider, making it possible to capture a vast amount of color information when shooting. To achieve similar quality Canon added red ink and green ink, which offers high brightness and chromaticity, to the six existing inks in their inkjet printers, raising the saturation of the red and green output range by 1.6 times and 1.2 times respectively. The result is photo image output with improved depth and translucence, and color reproduction comparable to that of prints from photo film.

The High-End Canon digital camera line features the Power Shot digital camera that is available in three styles, Power Shot G7, Power Shot S3 IS, and the Power Shot S80.
The features of these three high-end Canon digital camera models include still image recording on the Power Shot S80 and Power Shot Se IS models, with still image capabilities and motion picture and monaural capabilities on the Power Shot G7.

All of these models of High-End Canon digital camera models have the 4x digital zoom feature. The total pixel counts of these three high-end Canon digital camera models range from 8.3 megapixels to 10.40 megapixels.

There are 19 Canon Point-and-Shoot digital camera styles available in the Canon digital camera line. The most recent additions to the Canon digital camera Point and Shoot product line are the Power Shot SD900, Power Shot SD800, IS, Power Shot SD40, Power Shot A710 IS, Power Shot A640 and the Power Shot A630.

The features of these Point-and-Shoot models of Canon digital camera devices differ slightly, with a total pixel count that ranges from 7.1 to 10.40 megapixels, with the latest Canon digital camera models varying on the capability of still image recording not being available on 2 models, the Power Shot A710 IS and the Power Shot A640. These models offer still image recording as Normal, Fine and SuperFine instead.

Canon Corporation also offers a superb collection of Digital EOS Canon digital cameras. They are the EOS-1Ds Mark II Digital, EOS-1D Mark II N Digital, EOS 5D Digital, EOS 30D Digital, Digital Rebel Xii, and the Digital Reb XT. The newest addition to the Canon digital camera EOS line is the Digital Rebel XTi.

Some of the features in these Canon digital camera models are 16.7 megapixels, full frame CMOS sensors, DIGIC II Image Processor, fast and responsive EOS class performance, and improved image display. This is a professional level image photography tool line.

However, some of the captured images or portraits may not be acceptable to “all-knowing” critics and judges. The essence of photography is to meet your own personal criteria of value. The same sentiment goes with nudity.

Nudity is a form on art that is existent even during the time of the Greeks. Sculptures and paintings that were erected to depict various gods and goddesses can serve as concrete evidences. Not everyone else is as talented as these sculptors and painters but they, too, want to preserve the beauty in the lines and arch of nude bodies. They want to capture these fine details of the bodies using cameras.

How is nude photography done?
Nude photography can be done showing either half or the entirety of a body. In addition, this can be done in various locations and poses. The creativity of the photographer usually make people classify images to be either pornographic or not. Actually, there are no solid rules in classifying an image as pornographic or “safe” because an image is perceived by different viewers who have their own set of standards and ethical considerations.

A picture perfect nude photograph generally depends on three things: the camera, the model, and the location.

1.    The Camera

Nowadays, people are hooked with using digital cameras particularly digital SLR or Single Lens Reflex cameras because of a number of advantages of using digital cameras:

o    pictures can be previewed immediately on the built-in LCD screen

o    images can easily be transformed into black and white and/or sepia and can also be cropped after the picture has been taken

Novice photographers are advised to use traditional digital cameras or even digital SLRs because both of these models allow users to adjust the settings to get the right contrast and color. More importantly, these models enable users to shoot at different angles and try out the “trial and error” technique without worrying how the images will look when they are developed.

2.    The Model

This person should be someone who is comfortable and open to the idea of being nude in front of the camera. Some photographers capture portraits of their models with clothes on before baring it all the way.

3.    The Location

This aspect of nude photography is not at all hard to find as compared to the first two. Actually, photo shoots can occur anywhere such as in a park or at a beach or any other place where natural light is available to bring out the natural skin tone of the model

In fact, nowadays, many make a lot of money out of mixing the art of photography with the erotic elements of nudity. Well this is because of the fact that there will always be a variation between the images you will see on your pc monitor and your 4 color printed photo.

Why? Well, computer monitors use RGB, right? Four color printing uses CMYK. RGB and CMYK have entirely different outputs. So, no matter what you do, the image on your monitor will never be the same as your 4 color photos, unless there are computer monitors that also use CMYK to produce colors for the images and texts.

These days, the biggest sellers in the camera market are the so-called digital SLR cameras. These are the modern gadgets that can trigger our creativity and seats of emotion.

Though relatively new, most people choose digital SLRs because it can be easily manipulated. However, having these cameras does not completely guarantee that the every captured image is great and perfect.

Following are some point by point guidelines that should be considered to maximize the expense of your digital cameras:
1.    Simplicity
Zoom in to capture the part you want to emphasize. Thus, irrelevant objects or areas can be taken away or just allow them to soften.

2.    Rule of thirds
When capturing a moving object, it is advisable to capture them moving into the imaginary tic-tac-toe frame from one of the two sides.

3.    Shapes and lines
Capture a straight line at an angle by moving five to ten feet away to the side to capture at an angle.

4.    Vantage point
To add significance or emphasis to an object, take a picture at a lower vantage point. Increasing the height away from the object can reduce its significance.

5.    Balance

6.    Framing

7.    Indoor photographs

8.    Camera adjustments

9.    ISO speeds
Digital cameras have ISO speeds ranging from 100 to 800. The higher the ISO, the higher the camera’s sensitivity to light’s exposure. Be sure to master using this element along with the camera’s aperture and shutter speeds.

10.     Lens/Filters
There are digital cameras that allow additional lenses to be attached to the main lens, or the lenses can be completely interchangeable.

Lenses can be categorized as follows:

a.     macro lens – allows you to get closer to objects like insects and flowers
b.     wide-angle lens – used for capturing landmarks, and large and wide sceneries
c.     telephoto lens – allows longer zooms that let you get close to objects that are rather unsafe

Filters, on the other hand are used to:

a.     soften the effect of the image
b.     provide blurring on the edges for portraits that have sensitive moods
c.     add light flares for the image to be more dramatic
d.     to reduce glare so that pictures appear more saturated, crisp, and vivid.

However, if you still want to improve on the images that you have taken, the following list of software can allow touch-ups:

•    Adobe Photoshop
•    Apple’s iPhoto
•    Corel Paint Shop Pro
•    Google Picasa
•    LView

Once you have understood and mastered the important points on digital photography and capturing pictures, you will soon realize that the keys in getting great pictures are: “Even a simple aim and shoot camera” and “Creative ME.”

1.    Pixel- means the tiniest part of the digital photo. A photo image is composed of combined millions of pixel.
2.    Resolution- the over all quantity of pixels in a photo. Increasing the resolution would make the image become sharper. Thus more pixels are needed to achieve a better photo image quality.
3.    Mega pixel- a photo composed of three to four mega pixels will have a better quality that a photo with only one mega pixel.
4.    Dots Per Inch (DPI) – this term is used to describe quality of the computer monitor and printer. Specifically, laser printers have more dpi resolution than monitors. Hence, higher the dpi resolution means better quality.
5.    JPEG (joint photographic experts group) – it correspond to the format for saving images in the digital camera.
6.    Memory Card- this is where the digital files are stored. Memory cards consist of different sizes and capacity. A memory card with higher storage capacity would be more convenient to purchase.
7.    LCD (liquid crystal display) – almost all digital cameras have this specification. The purpose of LCD is for the photographer to be able to view the scene first before capturing the photo.
Now that you already understand the first part of the digital photography tutorial, the second part will discuss basically on correct handling of digital camera.

Proper handling of digital camera is the next important step in digital photography. This is because the success of a digital photographer depends on his output. And the key to achieve quality photos starts in the way you use and handle the digital camera.

Learning how a digital camera works, understanding the strategies in taking photos, and how to take indoor and outdoor pictures are all part of the things a beginner should learn.

Below is the second part of the digital photography tutorial. These are good ideas to help beginner master the secrets of taking photos.

1.    Pay attention to the subject

One of the most fundamental digital photography tips. You should be able to compose carefully by working on the frame. Play with your camera, and explore the different shots. Avoid positioning your object at the center of the photo, as it may result to dead center image.

2.    Capture Close Up Photos

Take great images by capturing them in extreme close up. Close up photos add a little creativity and excitement to the photos. In addition, this feature is only of the different ways to enhance you photo.

3.    Use a tripod

Oftentimes digital cameras results to blurry photographs if your hands quiver a little. Getting a tripod will surely save your effort from taking low quality photos, and preserve otherwise great photos.
